Case Study: In-Space Photography
Using Interior Designer Headshots to Celebrate the Designers Who Make it All Happen
When designers put their heart and soul into a project, they often want something more than interior shots for their portfolio. In-space portrait photography (aka interior designer headshots) is the perfect addition to a photo session for designers who want to remember the mood, energy, and sense of accomplishment felt after putting the finishing touches on a project.
Celebrating the Creator
Our approach to in-space photography uses the same attention to detail and creative lighting techniques to highlight the creator, resulting in an image collection that honors the space and celebrates the designer responsible for making it all happen.
Designing A Desert Oasis
These designers meant business, and we knew that the images shot needed to highlight the power and intensity of the partnership inside of this richly colored space. We accomplished this with a full power strobe to achieve the light needed for a balanced yet moody image.
Enhancing the Elegance
The secret ingredient in this kitchen shoot was a large white umbrella just outside the door. Combined with a full power strobe, this gave us the precise lighting needed to capture the elegance of this all-white space without missing a single texture or detail.
Color Me Candid
One of the hidden gems of in-space photography is the unexpected candid. This shoot took advantage of natural light in the kitchen to capture the dynamic between the two designers, while leveraging full power strobe to illuminate the designer’s faces in a more formal shot.
Pops of Power
This colorful space was perfectly complemented by the designer’s personal style. Half power strobe added definition to the designer’s face without washing out the rest of the color and detail of the room.
A Man of Many Moods
An over-the-top transformation begs for an over-the-top composition, and that’s exactly what we accomplished for Nick in the bathroom shot. On the flip side, the sitting room had a moodier, more lived-in vibe, so we used a less-intense lighting setup and added a whiskey (or three) to create a relaxed image.
The Final Touch
Every designer leaves a mark on the spaces they create, and interior designer headshots – or in-space portrait photography – is a creative way to take a piece of that space with you, capturing the energy and creativity long after the project is over.
